You can make complete tracks and records using most of the tools out there. That being said, there is some DAW out there that seem to outshine others. With so many available digital audio workstations out there on the market, it&#8217;s hard to find the one that fits you. Ableton has proven itself live and on stage. Logic constantly is referenced by top music producers as a go-to music program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So, how do you decide?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems like the big question is which one is right for you? If you&#8217;re anything like me you want to use the best possible software available. By installing the right Digital Audio Workstation on your MAC or PC, you can record, arrange, edit and mix a track for making your final production. But of course, you want to use something fun and something that doesn&#8217;t get in the way of creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I consider a good DAW:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ease of use<\/li><li>Mac and Windows compatability<\/li><li>Stability<\/li><li>Multi &#8211; core support<\/li><li>Friendly Virtual Instrument support<\/li><li>Good slection of stock audio effects plugins<\/li><li>Good use of ram and hard drive space<\/li><li>easy functions<\/li><li>Unlimited multi tracks<\/li><li>favorable export and import audio controls<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2MYFRei\">Ableton Live<\/a> and Logic Pro X are two widely used and popular DAWs. After installing and opening the program, you will find an excellent user-friendly session-view that helps you to store your audio clips easily. You can also add folders from your MAC or PC easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other talents of this DAW<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The program allows you to switch sounds within seconds.\u00a0 As we consider Ableton vs Logic pro x, you can get your drum pattern quickly without re-sequencing the audio pattern live. Apart from these, you can also create an original soundtrack by using the audio and MIDI effects of the Ableton Program. Finally, you can create a track and save it as a template for future use in Ableton. Additionally, this DAW has been proven to be an excellent choice for live bands and performers. It allows you to store clips of audio and midi to then trigger them in different combinations. This helps you to come up with arrangement ideas for the music you produce. If you&#8217;ve to use FL studio this might be a bit familiar to you. Playing a pattern and adding new patterns with the play cue to try and come up with something cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another cool thing I like about Ableton is the &#8220;Places&#8221; section to the left of the session&#8217;s view. The Places section allows you to make shortcuts to folders of samples that are stored on the hard drive of your computer. You can create a shortcut to basically any folder on your Mac or PC just by adding the folder by clicking the &#8220;add folder&#8221; just below the places section. You can then simply drag a sample right into the session&#8217;s view for immediate use. This really sets the bar high when it comes to workflow. Being the creative person we all know how important workflow is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Usability and Speed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another excellent thing with Ableton is the preset send and return tracks. This setting will make it super simple to put reverb or delay onto any of the tracks really quickly. Again, workflow is highlighted with Ableton as you can see. Take a look at the dials at the bottom of the session&#8217;s view and you&#8217;ll see how easy it is to adjust your levels. After spending some time finding your favorite effects, reverbs, and delays, my advice would be to save it as a template for later use. This way when you start a new song you can do it with one of your templates. But when I used them and tested them out I was presently surprised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their sample of the Motif was absolutely phenomenal, to say the least. This fact alone was a huge factor in my purchasing it. I grabbed Ableton for a few other reasons. But Logic Pro is closely related to Pro tools in terms of being &#8220;industry professional&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not to say that it works anything like Pro Tools. Logic also has a fair price. Just under $200. The quick Swipe comping tool of the program makes it an excellent tool for creating audio. You can quickly compile which section you should include in your audio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the first things you&#8217;re gonna notice in Pro X is the new and improved GUI. The appearance looks a lot different than the earlier versions and it may take just a little time to get used to. Personally, I think it&#8217;s I bit more modern. And the mixer view seems pretty easy to get around with. You can also customize the look of the main window to better fit your own taste.\u00a0 Go to -> Logic pro-> preferences, and select general, then click the display tab. In this display, you can change the color of the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Color control<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The catch is that it&#8217;s only greyscale. So you can&#8217;t make it purple, or brown, or yellow. You can simply just make it more or less grey. I laughed at this too! That being said, the greyscale adjustments do have a pretty strong effect on the view. You can make it pretty bright or really dark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some other visual presets you might want to check out too. But in a nutshell, you can pretty much change the overall feel of the background if you wanted to. Additionally, the grid lines could be adjusted to your taste if you needed. Something you might want to check out. A bit different than how Ableton vs Logic compare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from this excellent tool, Logic Pro has the option of <strong>Smart Control<\/strong> ( that can be brought up by pressing \u201cB\u201d) where you can use several plug-in options efficiently. In other applications, you need to open the plug-ins that require screen space. In Logic Pro, you can access a selection of plug-in controls using the <strong>Smart Control option.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Everything pretty much works out of the box with Logic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The layout has changed a little in the new Pro X version. Also, the channel strip&#8217;s signal flows seem to make a whole lot more sense too. You&#8217;ll notice that your inputs are on the top of the channel strip rather than the bottom. As was on Logic 9. It&#8217;s the same way in Pro Tools and really it just makes more sense when you think about it. The interface is simply cleaner. Another really big thing about the new Logic is flex pitch. As of version 9, it used to be flex time. This is an excellent tool and you should definitely check it out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stock Plugins and Effects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the stock audio plugins are excellent. They are widely used in the industry. How this compares Ableton vs Logic could be more of a personal preference. But we have found more of our studio work completed using Logic. And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avid.com\/pro-tools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pro Tools<\/a> as well. Both are industry titans<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another great feature of the application is its easy plug-in manager system. You can integrate any 3rd party plug-ins with your existing plug-in. Due to its importance, comping has always been something recording engineers have longed for. The ability to do take after take after take super fast! After recording all of your comps you can then select the best take. You&#8217;ll notice all of your takes named as such: Take 1 &#8211; Take 2 &#8211; Take 3 , e.c.t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the downsides is that Logic runs on mac. Since I&#8217;m a PC user this kinda upset me. But still, its a really solid DAW. It is well-rounded and priced at fair price points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many consider Logic Pro X to be the best mastering environment. While Ableton is more of a live performance environment. This doesn&#8217;t mean you can&#8217;t do both in both programs. You should choose the software based on your personal preference and the features available in the program. I would say that Ableton Live edges out Logic when it comes to a live situation. But in the studio and for mastering,&nbsp; we would give Logic Pro X the edge. This is very similar to Pro Tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the tools in Logic are based on pro studio work and tracking. Ableton Live focuses more on loop-based recording in my opinion. But I do feel that Ableton is a bit more creative in the sense that it&#8217;s fairly easy to put music and beats together without a hassle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to decide?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While Logic has some pretty good stock audio effects not seen in Ableton. Many of them are used widely by pros. As a result, this has put Logic at the top. In the new Logic Pro X version, you&#8217;ll notice that they&#8217;ve cleaned up the interface a little.\u00a0 They&#8217;ve moved out some of that clutter found in Logic 9. This has become especially relevant in today&#8217;s modern studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to using Virtual Instruments, I have found Ableton to be a bit more stable. Live and on stage is probably the main concept of Ableton. Furthermore, many performers trust Ableton when performing on stage with click tracks and other accompaniment music cues. Try it in a live situation and you&#8217;ll see what I mean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of all, you&#8217;ll want to try these out to size yourself. We&#8217;ve run our own test as well. Both Ableton and Logic are fine digital audio workstations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of the new rewire technology, there really isn&#8217;t a reason you can&#8217;t just use both programs!
